HALO® Laser Treatment in Hampton Roads

It goes without saying that our bodies age as we grow older despite the common wish to maintain a youthful appearance for as long as possible. Over time, our skin begins to lose reflectivity and glow due to sun exposure, diet, medications, and other factors. Dermacare of Hampton Roads offers the HALO® laser treatment in Hampton Roads, which can precisely target and eliminate years of damage and help reduce the signs of aging. If you live in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, or Suffolk, give us a call to schedule an initial consultation!

Great Results with Minimal Downtime

Until now, you’ve had to choose between great results and extensive downtime or marginal results with quick or no downtime. HALO® by Sciton, the world’s first hybrid fractional laser, offers both. By combining epidermal renewal with deep dermal rejuvenation, HALO® provides a total transformation without the recovery period associated with more aggressive treatments.

Some of the reasons patients choose HALO® laser treatment include a quicker return to work and regular activity, fewer risks and side effects than cosmetic surgery, and the ability to resolve hard-to-treat issues like acne scars and pore size.

“With HALO®, I can achieve results which I would have only expected from an ablative fractional laser, but get downtimes that I would normally see with a non-ablative fractional laser. It really is the best of both worlds.”

Where Can the HALO® Laser Target?

Certain areas of your body, like your arms, neck, and face, are exposed to the sun more often than others — like your abdomen or feet, for example. The areas with the most sun exposure are at the highest risk of developing dark spots and other signs of aging.

Although HALO® Laser is best known as a facial treatment, it can be used almost anywhere to improve the appearance of uneven texture, uneven tone, skin damage, enlarged pores, scars, dark spots, or fine lines. The most common treatment areas include the face, chest, neck, and arms.

Why Should You Choose the HALO® Laser?

The HALO® Laser uses a combination of ablative and non-ablative wavelengths to both remove the epidermal layer of skin and increase collagen production, enabling your skin to continue healing and improving over time.

Sun Spots

Sun spots, little brown spots on the skin, also called liver spots or age spots, are small, flat areas with darkened pigmentation. They most commonly appear on areas most subjected to sun damage: your face, arms, shoulders, and hands. The HALO® Laser targets the pigmentation in age spots, improving their appearance and restoring your youthful skin.

Discoloration

Skin discoloration can occur after a burn (including a sunburn) or be caused by certain medications. Many people who have skin discoloration feel self-conscious about it and seek out resurfacing treatments and other interventions to improve their appearance and confidence. The HALO® Laser is effective in reducing the appearance of discoloration.

Signs of Aging

As you age, skin changes like fine lines, scarring from occasional acne, or rough skin are common. Many people long for the radiant, glowing skin they had when they were younger. The HALO® Laser is effective in treating the signs of aging, including larger pores, fine lines and wrinkles, poor texture, and scarring.

Uneven Skin Tone

Uneven skin tone can be caused by sun damage, inflammation, dry skin, fine lines, blotchiness, or even a build-up of dead skin cells. The HALO® Laser removes the skin tissue at the outermost surface of your skin and then stimulates the production of collagen, leading to brighter, even, more youthful skin.

How Many Treatments of the HALO® Laser Do I Need?

As is the case with most medspa procedures, the number of treatment sessions you’ll need will depend on a multitude of factors. Primarily, the extent and depth of your skin damage will drive your treatment plan.

When you schedule your consultation appointment at Dermacare of Hampton Roads, a dermatologist or another certified professional will perform a thorough examination of your skin, visit with you about your treatment goals, and review your medical history. He or she will be able to determine whether you’re a good candidate for the HALO® laser and develop a treatment plan, outlining the anticipated number of treatment sessions.

He or she will also tell you what to expect when you return for your HALO® laser procedure.

What Can You Expect During Your HALO® Laser Procedure?

Prior to the procedure, the provider will use a numbing cream to reduce sensation in the treatment zone. The treatment will begin, using a laser to apply ablative and non-ablative energy to your skin. The strength of the treatment — and the discomfort involved — will depend on your treatment goals. If you’re willing to undergo more discomfort for more dramatic results, laser settings can be adjusted to accommodate. Some patients choose less dramatic results for a more comfortable experience; both routes lead to satisfied patients.

Most patients experience some discomfort during the procedure, often described as tingling or slight burning. Laser settings can be adjusted for patients who are too uncomfortable to continue.

The amount of time it takes depends on the size of the treatment area, but the face takes just 20 minutes on average.

After the treatment is complete, your face will feel heated for a few hours. You’ll notice some mild swelling and redness, which will resolve in the days following your procedure. Your skin might tighten up or feel a little rough beginning about a day after your appointment, but that will resolve when you ‘shed’ your old outer layer of skin and new skin replaces it. It takes three full months to achieve results following treatment with an ablative laser like HALO®.

Avoid direct exposure to the sun after your treatment, and going forward, be sure to use sunscreen. This will help prevent damage to your new skin.
