Acne Focused Treatments

Dermacare offers multiple treatment options for controlling acne. Generally speaking, light chemical peels and deep cleansing facials are used to calm and unclog the glands, and strip away the dead cells. BLU-U light therapy kills the p. acnes bacteria. The Sciton BBLs Acne treatments are used to kill the p. acnes bacteria and significantly reduce inflammation.

Sciton BBLs Acne Treatment

The Sciton BBLs Acne treatment uses multiple passes over the face or other area to be treated with a 420nm filter to target the p. acne bacteria and a 560nm or 590 nm filter (depending on skin type) to significantly reduce inflammation. The procedure takes about 30 minutes and is not considered to be painful. It is recommended for moderate to severe acne. A series of 4 to 6 treatments over a few weeks is usually recommended to get stubborn or severe acne under control. Maintenance treatments bi-weekly may be recommended after the initial series. An individualized treatment plan, dependent on several factors (severity and type of acne, skin type, medical history, patient’s lifestyle, etc.) will be developed by our team of medical professionals and aestheticians led by Carrie Labert, PA-C, our dermatology focused Physician Assistant, to provide the patient with optimal results. This plan may include a combination of the treatments mentioned above along with one of our prescription strength “take home care” lines from Image Skincare or SkinMedica.

Acne scarring is challenging to treat and is best reduced by a customized combination of:

• Stronger chemical peels
• DermaSweep microdermabrasion
• Halo fractional re-surfacing laser treatments
• SkinPen microneedling treatments
• Laser Genesis treatments
