Why Botox Should Be Part of Your Beauty Routine
If you care about skincare and maintaining a youthful appearance, then don’t sit on Botox! We know—we know—Botox gets a bad rap in some circles for being too “extra.” We get it! Most of us only know about Botox from what we’ve learned watching the Housewives shows. Sadly, that’s left many people thinking it’s for celebrities and those with more mature skin. We’re here to tell you that’s completely FALSE! In this blog, we’ll explain why Botox is for everyone and why it should be part of your quarterly beauty routine!
Botox should be part of your beauty routine for three big reasons. It can help:
- Delay the signs of aging
- Soften existing signs of aging
- Boost overall anti-aging/beauty routine
How does Botox work?
Botox is FDA-approved to temporarily make moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines look better. It (and similar products including Dysport) uses teeny tiny portions of the botulinum toxin to stop the nerve endings from communicating with the muscle. As a result, muscles treated with Botox are temporarily weakened and/or relaxed. This lack of movement helps prevent and lessen the appearance lines and wrinkles, leaving the skin smooth and supple.
Now let’s dive into the 3 reasons why Botox should be included in your beauty routine!
Botox can help delay signs of aging
You read that right! Botox has both preventative and restorative uses. When talking prevention, Botox can help prevent/slow signs of aging when used early enough. Every time the muscles in your face move (you smile, frown, laugh, etc.), your skin creases. Over time, and as our skin begins to age, these repetitive motions will cause fine lines and wrinkles to appear. Adding Botox to your skincare routine can help delay these signs of aging and diminish the eventual end severity.
If you are from a family where everyone (aunts, uncles, parents, grandparents, etc.) seems to have the same frown line between their eyebrows… you don’t have to inherit it! In many cases, when Botox has been used early and consistently, we’ve helped our patients avoid or delay the development of these kinds of wrinkles. (We get a lot of patients starting Botox in their early 20s to do just this!)
Botox can soften existing signs of aging
While Botox as a preventative treatment has recently gained popularity, it has been treating existing lines and wrinkles since first receiving the FDA’s stamp of approval! Whether you’re struggling with facial wrinkles, crows feet, forehead lines, frown lines, drooping eyebrows, neck bands, bunny lines (the list goes on!), Botox can help refresh and revitalize your face, giving you a more youthful appearance.
Whether you’re a makeup queen or a natural-skin-first kind of person, Botox can be a great addition to your regular beauty routine! For best results, it’s good to start at the earliest signs of aging!
Botox can boost your overall anti-aging/beauty routine
Whether you’re reading this because you want to prevent wrinkles from forming or you’re already starting to see the signs of aging on your face, Botox is a great complementary treatment for your beauty routine. (Of course wearing sunscreen will always be the #1.) Not only can Botox help you to feel more confident, you’ll also notice how much smoother your makeup applies when there are fewer “cracks” for the foundation and/or concealer to fall into.
It’s important to remember that Botox is not always a solution for static wrinkles, which are those visible when the facial muscles are relaxed. However, for lines caused or made more prominent by muscle movements, Botox is a game-changer!
