What is Regenerative Medicine and Why is It Important?

If it’s effective in skincare, you know we’re on top of it. That’s why we’re excited when we hear our patients asking about a term they’ve been hearing lately–regenerative medicine. In this blog, we’re covering what regenerative medicine is and why it’s important when it comes to skincare!

What is regenerative medicine?

Per the Mayo Clinic, “Regenerative medicine is focused on developing and applying new treatments to heal tissues and organs and restore function lost due to aging, disease, damage or defects.” When it comes to skincare, we can think of regenerative treatments as those that mobilize the most powerful tool of all–your own cells.

Think of it this way, elastin and collagen provide structure and elasticity to the skin. But as you age, your body produces less and less of each. Regenerative care gets cells active again, working to produce collagen and elastin proteins like they did in your 20s. As a result, your skin improves over time. You get an immediate impact—and then gradually improving results. By helping your cells, you’re not just treating the symptoms of aging, you’re actually addressing the root cause. And you know that’s what we love to see!

There are some amazing regenerative skincare treatments out there, and here are a few that are our go-to at DermacareHR.

Vivace RF Microneedling

Vivace RF Microneedling is a non-invasive treatment that uses tiny, medical-grade needles to create microscopic punctures in your skin and radiofrequency energy to affect horizontal layers of tissue. This controlled injury kickstarts your body’s natural healing process, which includes ramping up collagen and elastin production. Over time, that can mean smoother and firmer skin.

Sculptra

Sculptra is another regenerative treatment option that works by stimulating collagen production. It’s an injectable product made from poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). When Sculptra is injected into the skin, it gradually stimulates collagen production. You’ll see the results over several months, and they can last up to 2 years.

Halo and Laser CoolPeWhat is Regenerative Medicine and Why is It Important?el

Fractional lasers are some of our favorite treatments. These lasers use targeted beams of energy to penetrate into the skin, creating micro-injuries. In this case, that’s a good thing! Your body’s healing response begins, and you start producing collagen and elastin. This means improved skin texture and reduced fine lines and wrinkles.

Beyond treatments you can receive at Dermacare, we also have products with regenerative effects.

  • DefenAge Clinical Power Trio
  • SkinMedica TNS Serum
  • ( plated ) SkinScience Exosomes

These products are all medical-grade, and SkinMedica TNS Serum is even often used in our DiamondGlow treatments. Next time you’re at Dermacare for an appointment, let’s talk about products – we love sending patients home with an extra boost of support to maximize results!

What we love most about regenerative skincare is the long-term impact it can have. If you’re curious to learn more about regenerative skincare or want to explore your options, the first step is a virtual consultation (it’s free!). Let’s make a plan for reaching your beauty goals.
