If you’re looking to achieve clear, glowing skin this summer, you’re in the right place. While a good skincare routine can work for you year-round, warm weather, humidity, and an increase in sun exposure can bring on a few challenges. The good news is that we’re here to help. Here’s our best summer skincare routine in 7 simple steps!
The best summer skincare routine begins with sunscreen! Sun protection is important year-round, but especially during the spring and summer when you inevitably spend more time outdoors. If you’re headed out, don’t forget to apply and follow the product’s directions. Pay special attention to the instructions on how often to reapply sunscreen if you’re going swimming or getting sweaty!
Here are a few of our favorite sunscreen products, all available here at DermacareHR:
It’s hot outside, and if you live in the Hampton Roads area, it’s probably sticky-hot from all the humidity. (We hate it, too.) Between makeup, sweat, and dirt, it’s important that you cleanse your face every single day (preferably before bed).
Our favorite all-around cleanser is the DefenAge 1-Step Multi-Cleanse, which is stated to “dissolve, hydrate, and balance” and which also contains natural prebiotics. This gel cleanser foams nicely and does an excellent job at removing make-up. We also carry additional cleansers for those who are more acne-prone or those looking for an anti-aging product.
Yes, that’s right! Even if it’s 100 degrees outside and your face feels oily, moisturizing is still a much-needed step in your skincare routine. If you have normal-to-combination skin, you can probably switch to a lighter moisturizer in the summertime—but again, don’t skip it!
Here are a few of our favorite moisturizers, all available in-office:
If you haven’t incorporated a vitamin C serum into your skincare routine yet—why not? It’s a total game changer for glowing skin. Our absolute favorite serum is the AlumierMD’s EverActive C&E + Peptide, which stays fresh because you mix the 15% vitamin C into the serum when you’re ready to start a new vial. (For more information on AlumierMD’s EverActive C&E + Peptide, check out this blog post!)
Exfoliating removes dead skin cells from the surface of your skin, which increases blood circulation and improves skin’s appearance. Exfoliating also helps remove sunscreen.
There are two main types of exfoliators: mechanical and chemical. Examples of mechanical exfoliators include facial scrubs and exfoliating gloves or brushes you would find at the drugstore; chemical exfoliators include Alpha-hydroxy acids and Beta-hydroxy acids.
Here are DermacareHR, we offer:
We don’t want to brag, but our Signature Facial utilizes medical-grade products to get you the results you’re looking for! This treatment is highly customizable and will help address a wide array of skin issues and concerns you may have. This treatment can be great during the summer when we’re in and out of the ocean or pool, hot and cold environments, and we’re exposing our skin to a combination of excess sweat, makeup, sunscreen, and UV rays.
You know those cute sunglasses you have saved in your cart? Here’s another reason to buy them! Sunglasses keep you from squinting, which helps to prevent wrinkles such as crow’s feet. If you’re feeling extra, book a BOTOX® appointment, which also helps to prevent wrinkles from forming. 😉
